Unlock Files or Folders in Windows
Aug 28, 2022
Once in a while, you try to eject your USB stick, and you get a message stating that the device is in use. It is recommended not to pull the USB stick because data in progress will get lost.
How do you handle this?
Open the resource monitor and enter your USB drive letter in the associated handles. You will find which file is locking your USB from ejecting.
In my case, simplewall.exe was running from my USB stick and killing it allowed me to eject safely. You can use this method to unlock files and folders too.
Enjoy!
